Locronan, town of character

Locronan, a stunning village steeped in history !

A listed historic monument since 1924 and elected one of the Plus Beaux Village de France, this pretty Breton village boasts an exceptional architectural heritage. As you stroll around the village, you’ll be impressed by the imposing houses with slate roofs built in the traditional local granite. The setting is so unique that is has attracted more than a few filmmakers.

You’ll be transported back to the past just by wandering around the cobbled streets in the main square, where the cubstone well lies.
The village is also steeped in religious heritage. St Ronan church and Notre Dame de la Bonne Nouvelle chapel are definitely worth a visit.

Locronan is also renowned for its religious pardon known as the Grande Trémonie. Pilgrims follow the path around the hillside to the sound of hymns, dressed in traditional costumes and headdresses.
Locronan is also a place for foodies ! Before you leave don’t forget to pop into the pastry shop Le Guillou and try the delicious Kouing Amann, Brittany’s buttery layered pastry cake.

Located half way up a mountain, Locronan is also the starting point for many cycling and hiking trails which offer fabulous views over the bay of Douarnenez.
